When life gets insane, sometimes a writer has to just chill. You know, take a time out from life, even if it’s a short one. And I’m talking about the kind of time out that doesn’t involve music or TV blaring, or even a kitty that can’t decide if he wants in or out so you’re on your feet waiting for him to make up his mind. (Yes, that would be you, Bennett Charles!)
I’ve followed a ritual lately that is soothing, calming, and generally makes me feel like I’m still civilized instead of one foot dipping into the cray-cray. As silly as it sounds, I make a pot of tea. The beauty of it all: you take a few teabags and steep it in hot water. Piece of cake! Or Paleo cookies. . ..
So, yeah, truly proper tea drinkers would probably cringe at my method, but hey, whatevs. It works for me.
Why tea? Because, no matter how much I try to convince myself it’s five o’clock somewhere in the world, a stiff drink at 9 a.m. isn’t generally a good idea.
At least, that’s what I’ve been told. 😉
What do you do to take a moment just for you?
Happy living,
Melia
