Wordless Wednesday: The Lady in Pink

Life at The Male Observation Lab (a.k.a. the day job) is never dull, even for those  who don’t actually get to play in the dirt with the dudes.  Case in point, to celebrate Halloween, the dudettes at Central Command came up with this:

IMAG0946It started with the skeleton.  Someone clearly felt she wasn’t dressed properly (hey, we work for a conservative company – nekkid is not allowed) so one by one the pieces appeared as each dudette put her touch on this masterpiece.  (The toilet paper was my idea – not that it’s ever happened to me, of course!  :-))  Pretty cool, huh?

So, my Wordless Wednesday writer-peeps, what story would your muse come up with to explain the lady in pink?

Happy writing,

Deliciously Entangled

A few years ago, Hubby and I spent ten wonderful days in Paris, one of our favorite places to vacation.  From there we took trips to  surrounding attractions like Giverny (think Claude Monet) and Normandy (incredibly moving experience).  A major highlight for me was a trip to Reims, in the Champagne region of France.  (Huge surprise, right?)  P1150528Among the tasting rooms we visited was Moet et Chandon a Eperney, the makers of one of my fave champagnes ever.  (Did I mention this was a highlight? :-))

Knowing this, Hubby insisted on buying a bottle to haul on the plane with us (back in the days before the Shoe Bomber changed all that).  And from the moment the cash register rang up our purchase, my hero guarded that sucker like it was the Hope Diamond.  Why?  Because, he declared, this bottle was special, this bottle was destined to be “The One.”

As in, the one we cracked open when I sold my first novel. . ..

Cheers,

Wordless Wednesday: Would You Like Fries With That?

Welcome back to Wordless Wednesday!

I’m still trying to get myself organized after a fantastic writing conference, but I promise to post about that on Saturday soon one day.  Meanwhile, my jaunt through memory lane produced this photo:

a029_4It made me think about being a writer, what choices I have to make to pursue this publishing goal — which will morph into something bigger once *that* goal’s achieved.  (And, yeah, like other author-wannabees I’m optimistic!)  I thought about the choices we *all* make as we travel along this crazy road called “life.”

How I came up with all this from one photo makes me shake my head in amazement.  Apparently, La Muse is moody today.  There’s a surprise!  🙂

So, my dear writing peeps, what scene comes to mind for you?

Happy writing,
Melia

Wordless Wednesday: A Manly Man

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday!

I’ve been walking down memory lane the past few days, and came across this photo of one of my best dude friends – who, by the way, was featured in my very first blog ever.

Hubby and I were at the beginning of a home remodeling project a few years ago and we recruited some friends to help us move out while the work was being done.  Of course, Dude-friend was more than happy to volunteer!

IMG_0948Writer peeps, what story scene could you come up with that’s worthy of such a manly man?

And just in case you’re wondering, yeah, he’s single.  😉

Happy writing,
Melia

Wordless Wednesday: Hush

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday!

I’m lucky to live in a part of the world that is so exceptionally beautiful, particularly in the summer.  For me, getting away from the manuscript, even for a day, is just what I need to give me a fresh perspective.

IMG_3427So, writer peeps, what do you all think could happen, might happen, did happen in a setting like above?

Happy writing,
Melia

Time Out

When life gets insane, sometimes a writer has to just chill.  You know, take a time out from life, even if it’s a short one.  And I’m talking about the kind of time out that doesn’t involve music or TV blaring, or even a kitty that can’t decide if he wants in or out so you’re on your feet waiting for him to make up his mind.  (Yes, that would be you, Bennett Charles!)

I’ve followed a ritual lately that is soothing, calming, and generally makes me feel like I’m still civilized instead of one foot dipping into the cray-cray.  P1130689As silly as it sounds, I make a pot of tea.  The beauty of it all: you take a few teabags and steep it in hot water.  Piece of cake!  Or Paleo cookies. . ..

So, yeah, truly proper tea drinkers would probably cringe at my method, but hey, whatevs.  It works for me.

Why tea?  Because, no matter how much I try to convince myself it’s five o’clock somewhere in the world, a stiff drink at 9 a.m. isn’t generally a good idea.

At least, that’s what I’ve been told.  😉

What do you do to take a moment just for you?

Happy living,
Melia

Wordless Wednesday: If Rooms Could Talk

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday!

One of the coolest things about having family come to visit is the obligatory tour of nearby attractions.  You know, the ones you don’t bother seeing because they’re “always there.”  Well, I’m guilty of that, anyway!

This was in one of the old homes we’d toured while my sister was here a few months ago.  I don’t write historical romance, but I did have to wonder what kinds of conversations might have taken place in this room.
