Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens. . ..
Okay, okay. My apologies to Julie Andrews! Couldn’t resist. 🙂 But who wouldn’t smile at some of the things I’d experienced this week?
Like a kitty who insisted on helping with my WIP.
Then there’s the totally-new-to-me contraption I discovered when I attended a local RWA chapter meeting. (Freakin’ awesome! How did we ever get along without one of these?)
Or this when I got up for more coffee:
But what brought the biggest smile to my face this past week? I asked Hubby to fix my shoe, and when I woke up the next morning, I discovered this!
Yeah, okay. So life’s simple things do make me smile when I really pay attention. Like the smell of coffee. Or the sound of my husband’s snores when I wake up in the morning. The friendly gesture of a stranger, or hanging out in the backyard on a warm summer day. And, of course, a few moments to reflect on it all.
So. What makes you smile?
-Melia (who continues to smile as I work on my current manuscript – despite a heroine who is so not listening to me at the moment. Aarrgh! – That was a happy sound. I swear.)
Cute cat, and that water bottle thingy is pretty cool! My week’s been full of smiles too. I’m on vacation. Big Smile One. Writing is going well, and I’m nearly to the end of Playing House, Big Smile Two. Family time, Smile Three. Shopping with daughter, watching her buy very cute outfit for reunion date with her boyfriend, Smile number Four. All in all, a darn good week, and still four more days to go–Smile number Five.
I’m smiling.
What’s made me smile this week …
1. Handsome Hubby went to the storage unit to bring me back a few items (he had a list provided by yours truly) … and he goes one step further. He brings me back this funky, red, heart-shaped lamp I have. “I knew you’d like this too.” He said.
2. Java Chip ice cream on Sunday, National Ice Cream day (my favorite ice cream of all time).
3. Air conditioning.
4. Living vicarously thru a friend’s posts on Facebook of her jaunts thru Europe.
5. Getting my nails done.
6. Itching to start writing after a 6 month absense.
Yay, Tammy! You’re having an awesome week! And did you actually finish PLAYING HOUSE? (I thought I saw that posted somewhere.) Summer’s are so busy for me that I don’t typically take a week off to just play. Hmmm. . .. I might have to change that!
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Hugs,
Melia
I wuv you, Terri Patrick! You always make me smile!
Hugs,
Melia
Catherine! Sweetie! So great you stopped by! What a list. Whew! All good stuff! I love the red, heart-shaped lamp (sooo you!) — and how cool your hubby thought to bring it to you. I can see why you want to keep him. 😉
I’m also excited to see you’re itching to write again — go, you!
Hugs,
Melia
Melia,
Like you simple things make me smile. A clean, organized house. A mowed, manicured lawn. My cats purring. A gentle breeze. My Pinterest boards…and, of course, your blog which is why I’ve returned to it again and again.
Awww, Vonnie, I’m touched. Thank you for stopping by! It’s always great to see you here! One of these days (maybe after I finish this manuscript? LOL.) I’ll have to figure out the whole Pinterest thing. 🙂
Hugs,
Melia
Your blog made me smile, and none of these things even happened to me. I wish my cat would take lessons from yours–you’re cat seems to be more muse; mine is more Type A editor that insists on walking across the keyboard to revise as I write. Unfortunately, she can’t spell worth a darn.
Joanie
Hi, Joanie! My kitty is more than willing to revise, going so far as to erase entire scenes! No joke. The first time it happened, I learned the importance of the SAVE function. LOL.
Happy writing,
Melia
