My morning routine is pretty standard: up at 4, feed the kitty-kids, write until 6:30-ish, then head to the day-job. As I fixed breakfast for Alex, Bennett, and Chloe one day, I had to ask myself: who’s really at the top of the food chain in the Alexander household? I mean, amidst the painful, starving mewls of my three (*snort*), I’m stressing ’cause I’m not moving fast enough for them. What is wrong with this picture?
The question gnawed at me as they ate. While I’m at work at the Male Observation Lab, what exactly did these three do with their time?
I’ve made it a point to really pay attention to their routine, even dug through some photos in search of evidence. I figured that it couldn’t vary much from day to day, right?
After some observation, I think I’ve pretty much figured out what they do while I’m away at the day-job. *Sigh* And here’s the evidence:
Oh, what a life! Play and sleep and cat nip and food and more sleep. Does it get much better than that?
I know who’s in charge at my house. Do you know who’s in charge at yours?

Isn’t it amazing how much relaxation they can fit into a day, and still have time to cause the occasional mischief and make us feel like they are neglected and starving? Nudge, my future DILs cat, rules the roost at our house! Loved your blog and the pictures. ~Viola
No kidding, huh? I’m totally at their mercy – and they know it! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Miss Viola! So great to see you yesterday, too.
Happy writing,
Melia
It was great seeing you yesterday! Hope you and hubby are doing well. I can see that the cats are. LOL
We’re doing okay. (Would I say otherwise? 😉 )
Kitties are amazing bright spots in our life!
The ghosts of spoiled rotten cats. (It’s been years, but sometimes I think they’re still around.(
LOL, Eilis! My little Princess would argue that spoiled rotten depends on point of view! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

🙂
My kitty starts to meow at my bedroom door every morning (and I mean every morning) at 6am to make sure I am awake. The minute I get up, he heads for his soft, cushy bed and goes to sleep. It is hard work being an alarm 😉
Hi, Kylie!
Yes, your poor kitty practically slaves away to keep you on track. LOL! So glad you shared that! (And I’ve made a note not to introduce my three to him. :-))
Hope you’re having a great week,
Melia
